Nyla Kraemer, MSW, LICSW

Nyla is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a master's degree from University of St. Thomas / St. Catherine's College, St. Paul, MN.

The focus of her clinical career has been treatment of children, adolescents, adults and their families, on clinical issues such as:

  • Mental Illness: Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia
  • Attachment disorders
  • Children & Adolescent concerns
  • ADHD
  • Behavioral concerns
  • Anger
  • Family relationship & concerns
  • Adjustment disorders

Successful treatment has involved individual therapy, as well as group and family counseling. Once mood and anxiety issues have been individually addressed with children and adolescents, family issues can be incorporated with the goal of successful treatment of the patients total mental health environment.

Nyla has worked with the county, school and counseling center to establish and expand a Day Treatment program for adolescent's in the Wadena/Deer Creek School system. The program began with three students and she expanded it to cover grades K-9 with an emphasis on mental health therapy and an educational component. The dual focus enabled students to re-enter the main stream educational student body with improved confidence, stronger mental health, plus remain current with educational skills. The work was accomplished through individual work with the student, group sessions and family therapy in a holistic approach.

As a social worker practicing under the code of ethics, she worked towards strengthening relationships among individuals, families, social groups and communities. She engages the client as a partner in the helping process to promote change for the individual and family through the use of the strengths perspective and empowerment.


Jennifer Bettis, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Jennifer Bettis, MS, LMFT

Jen received her Master's degree and an additional certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Cloud State University in 2004. She completed her internships working with adolescent and adult sex offenders in an out-patient setting as well as with adults recovering from traumatic brain injuries in an in-patient setting. She has been a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist since 2007.

Jen has worked extensively with the youth population in after school youth programs, day treatment and an adolescent halfway house for chemical dependency treatment. She specializes in treatment of:

  • Attachment disorders
  • Oppositional defiant disorder
  • Conduct disorder
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Mental illnesses
  • Family issues
  • Marital issues

She also works with adults, couples, and families. The focus of her therapy includes getting the family involved for the support of the children as well as to promote changes in the family system that will help continued progress once therapy has been completed.

Jen enjoys the challenges that her work presents, as well as the rewards it holds for everyone involved. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral techniques, client-centered approaches, as well as family systems approaches to ensure that she is able to meet the client’s needs. Out of office referrals, to other service providers, are made as necessary to ensure the best possible outcome for each client.
